    Research Interests

    • Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), particularly genetics of IBD, emergent therapies, study of associated environmental factors, epidemiology, evolution according to phenotype, and the role of Microbiome.
    • Helicobacter Pylori (Hp) Infection: evaluation of the modalities of diagnosis of Hp infection and study of the sensitivity of Hp to antibiotics  
    • Lipid transport diseases: evaluation of the diseases and of the best follow-up of these diseases.

    Career Summary

    After completing her medical studies (1980) and her pediatrics diploma (1984) at Université de Montréal, Dr. Colette Deslandres completed a subspecialty in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition (1986) in the Combined Program of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Massachussets General Hospital and the Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard University, under the supervision ot the very prestigious Dr Allan Walker.

    Since 1993, she works as a pediatric gastroenterologist in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHU Sainte-Justine. She is also Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Program at CHU Sainte-Justine since 2005 and Head of the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition of CHU Sainte-Justine since 2014 .

    Since 2017, she organises "La Journée de Formation continue en gastroentérologie pédiatrique du CHU Sainte-Justine", for which she is director of the scientific committee.

    She is the member of numerous associations and commitees, such as the Women’s Advisory and Action Board – Canadian Association of Gastroenterology; the CIDsCANN Steering Commitee » (Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network) and Co-Lead of the CIDsCANN's Education Committee Working Group; Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s Scientific and Medical Advisory Council; as well as the organizing committee of Tansition Crohn and Colitis, for which she became Co-Chair in 2022. In 2023, she was appointed as one of the editor of the section on Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in the journal Frontiers in Pediatrics.

    She published 80 articles in peer reviewed journals indexed in Pubmed, 15 book chapters and 96 abstracts. She was invited as a guest speaker on 55 occasions and gave conferences across the world. She is currently involved in nine research projects at CHU Sainte-Justine, and is principal investigator for eight of them.

    • 2018: Award for clinical excellence given by the Comité de reconnaissance du département universitaire de pédiatrie, Université de Montréal.
