Professor Lavoie has a multidisciplinary background in law, clinical ethics, pedagogy and sociology, including a Banting Fellowship. He has done research at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at Oxford University in the United Kingdom and at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He is a regular researcher at the Centre de recherches société, droit et religions (SoDRUS) and an associate researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre. His research focuses on the pluralism of values in the field of pediatric care.
Career Summary
Bertrand Lavoie is a professor at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Sherbrooke where he teaches and conducts research on human rights, freedom of religion, equality rights and pluralism of values, particularly within health institutions. Professor Lavoie teaches in the graduate program in Health Law and Policy. He specializes in conducting qualitative empirical research in hospital contexts.
