    Career Summary

Jean-François Saucier started his research career in transcultural psychiatry at McGill University, studying the adaptation of English, French and Jewish families to the chronic physical illness of a child and the psychiatric impact of a mixed marriage. He then conducted an anthropological research on the patron-client relationship in Central Africa. Upon his return to the University of Montreal, he began a series of research projects on attitudes of teenagers on prevention, as well as longitudinal studies of postnatal depression, parents' adaptation to their child's chronic illness, and fathers' adaptation to the birth of a child. He is also co-investigator in a study on immigration and perinatal care given to refugee mothers at the moment of childbirth.
