Short- and long-term impact of COVID-19 public health guidelines and hospital policies on maternal and child mental and physical health

A team of researchers from different Canadian, European and American universities, led by Dr. Anick Bérard (Investigator, CHU Sainte-Justine and Full Professor, University of Montreal) is currently carrying out a study to better understand the impacts of the pandemic of COVID-19 on the health of pregnant women and their babies.

The study consists of a questionnaire to be completed online (duration of 20 minutes) by pregnant women.

Selection criteria

  1. be pregnant
  2. be 18 years old or older

Benefits for the patient

The results obtained will contribute to the advancement of knowledge on the impact of public health and hospital policy recommendations related to COVID-19 on maternal and physical health of the mother and her future child.

However, there are no expected benefits for the participants in this research project.

More detailed description of the research project

The 20-minute questionnaire is anonymous and includes questions on current quality of life, mental health and physical health, and on changes to these due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of the questionnaire, participants are invited to participate in two other data collection components associated with this study:

  1. complete a second questionnaire (similar, but shorter) at 2 months after delivery, and
  2. give us permission to combine their responses to the questionnaire (s) with their provincial administrative health data.

Participants can agree to participate in one, two or none of these 2 other studies without affecting their participation in the initial questionnaire.
