Main objective
We are currently recruiting 4 to 11 years old who are not yet vaccinated against COVID-19 but who will receive their first dose of the vaccine soon. This includes children who participated in the EnCORE study, but also children who didn’t, such as siblings or friends, who would be interested.
Contribution of the patient
The study includes home-visits or clinics at the CHU Sainte-Justine with a research nurse including a blood draw and a saliva sample collection. Your child will be compensated $50 for their effort after each visit.
Why participate?
Your child will not obtain any personal benefit from participating in this research project. Importantly, the results from this study will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge of immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination in children.
Risks and inconvenients
The disadvantage is the time required for the study, which is approximately 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire and 20 minutes to collect the blood and saliva samples. Taking blood is unpleasant and can cause bruising, discomfort or, more rarely, an infection. The amount of blood that will be drawn is safe.
