Famille Louis Boivin Research Chair
The Faculty of Pharmacy and the Research Center have collaborated to develop a strategic chair aimed at counseling pregnant mothers on safe drug use.
The chairholder, Anick Bérard, was awarded the Famille Louis Boivin Research Chair. Anick Berard’s knowledge of the relationships between pregnancy and medication gives her a unique advantage over many other qualified professionals applicants.
Her installations at the Research Center and her know-how represents an added value for the Fetomaternal and Neonatal Pathologies Axis.
Jonathan Bouchard Intellectual Disability Research Chair
Dr. Jacques L. Michaud
The research made possible by this $3-million donation from Sandra and Alain Bouchard Foundation will allow to identify and gain a better understanding of new genes allowing to and deliver more precise diagnoses much sooner. It will also enable to develop effective treatments and perhaps even pave the way to prevention
Research Chair in Cardiovascular Genetics
Dr. Gregor Andelfinger
The Chair will serve as the main incubator for research generation pertaining to cardiovascular diseases, including rare diseases or conditions, to help determine the as yet unknown causes of such diseases and ultimately help develop appropriate treatments. Much remains to be done for research since the genetic origin of approximately 90% of congenital heart-related abnormalities are still unknown today and 1% of new babies are born with such abnormalities. 1 in 1000 babies will be operated on and to date those operations do not offer a cure but only a way of coping with the disease.

Research Chair in Movement Sciences of the University of Montreal
Dr. Hubert Labelle
In an effort to strengthen the Musculoskeletal Diseases and Rehabilitation Axis, the CHU Sainte-Justine has deployed significant efforts to set up a dedicated excellence chair in this field.
In collaboration with Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal, a chair was created and appointed to Dr Labelle, in recognition of his outstanding scientific productivity and his international reputation.
The main goal of this chair in orthopedics and movement sciences is to meet the needs of these research areas, while providing constant support of the axis’ research team.

François-Karl Viau Chair in Pediatric Oncogenomics
Dr Daniel Sinnett is the recipient of the François-Karl Viau Chair in Pediatric Oncogenomics. This chair was created in October 2002 thanks to the generosity of the Fondation des Gouverneurs de l'espoir. The foundation was named in honor of President Francine Laplante’s son, who suffered from lymphoma.
The chair’s main objective is to apply genomics to pediatric oncology. We believe that techniques in molecular biology, genetics and epidemiology will lead to the discovery of many functional variations in genes and proteins involved in pediatric cancer etiology. This new research field is called pediatric oncogenomics.
