Dr. Anick Bérard receives a Distinguished Scholar Award 2014 from the Teratology Society

MONTREAL, October 1, 2014 – Dr. Anick Bérard, a researcher in the Fetomaternal and Neonatal Pathologies axis at CHU Sainte-Justine, received a Distinguished Scholar Award 2014 from the Teratology Society for her work investigating the potential adverse impacts of antidepressant use during pregnancy and her article “First trimester exposure to paroxetine and risk of cardiac malformations in infants: the importance of dosage”, published in the journal Birth Defects Research Part B: Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology. This award recognizes senior authors for the importance, impact, and relevance of their published works in the field of birth defects research.

In addition to being a researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine, Dr. Bérard is Head of the Medications, Pregnancy and Lactation Unit of this institution, as well as Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacology at Université de Montréal. Her research interests include drug use during pregnancy and their effect on the foetus, the mother and the child, as well as the risk of multiple pregnancy and major congenital malformations associated with assisted reproduction techniques. Dr. Bérard is also Co-Chairholder of the Famille Louis-Boivin Research Chair – Medications, Pregnancy, and Lactation.
