Description & Objective
The metabolomics platform of the Centre de recherche du CHU Sainte-Justine is a new platform specialized in the dosage and characterization of small biological molecules. This platform is part of the Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet), which focuses on innovative research excellence in glycomics.
Opened in April 2023, this new platform funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) will meet the needs of CHU Sainte-Justine researchers for fundamental, clinical and translational research in metabolomics within the six research axes of the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre. The aim is to promote services and collaboration within the scientific community (Academic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries).
The platform gives access to dedicated expert staff and state-of-the-art equipment of last generation such as tandem mass spectrometer with high-resolution tissue imaging capability. We can therefore study metabolites in a wide range of concentrations in biological systems and identify analytes in complex samples.
The instruments will be used for research projects aiming at assessing diseases progression, evaluating the efficacy of therapy and deciphering the pathophysiological mechanisms of monogenic diseases (including inherited defects in metabolism and protein glycosylation). We could also discover biomarkers of a given disease using systems biology approach.
