Dr. Nelly Huynh receives a New Investigator Research Grant from the SickKids Foundation

Montréal, November 14, 2013 – Dr. Nelly Huynh received a New Investigator Research Grant for 2013-2014 from the SickKids Foundation National Grants Program, which is jointly sponsored by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH). Over a three-year period, Dr. Huynh will be granted nearly $300,000 to support her work on the incidence of altered craniofacial morphology and malocclusion in children and youth with obstructive sleep apnea. The grant provides important early career development support to child health researchers. Moreover, it contributes to enhance their ability to compete for research grants from other funders.

In addition to her position as a researcher in the Musculoskeletal Diseases and Readaptation Axis at the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Research Center (Sainte-Justine), Dr. Nelly Huynh is Assistant Professor under grant in the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral Health Department at University of Montreal. At Sainte-Justine, she is developing a research program on the effect of orthognathic treatments and craniofacial growth on sleep, breathing and behavior on waking in children and adolescents. She is also developing a research program on the effect of respiratory problems on sleep in patients with syndrom-associated craniofacial malformations.
