Some 65,000 lights now twinkling for the kids and families of Sainte-Justine

MONTREAL, December 13, 2013 — There was magic in the air last night at the final lighting-up ceremony of Le Grand sapin de Sainte-Justine, which was attended by Rythme FM personalities and representatives of La Fondation Bon départ de Canadian Tire du Québec, cherished partners of this sixth annual event. Some 65,000 lights were switched on at once, each conveying an individual message of hope and encouragement to sick children and their families.

Broadcasting live on Le Véro Show on 105.7 Rythme FM, Véronique Cloutier thanked people across Quebec for their tremendous generosity. And as an extra bonus, members of the group Québec’Issime stopped by the show to perform a few favourite seasonal songs.

Additional lights can be purchased at www.legrandsapin.org until December 30, for $5 a piece. A portion of the proceeds will be used to help Sainte-Justine’s social services meet the most pressing needs of families in difficult circumstances. Some funds will also be earmarked for programs designed to humanize healthcare services and promote health and wellness.

Big-hearted donors

Le Grand sapin de Sainte-Justine is made possible through the generosity of its campaign partners, including Rythme FM and, for the past five years, La Fondation Bon départ de Canadian Tire du Québec.

Moreover, Place Ville Marie, in conjunction with its principal tenant, RBC, and backed by its corporate and retail tenant community, was responsible for adding 9,000 lights to the majestic Sainte-Justine tree this year and making it glow even more brightly!
