10 Students at CHU Sainte-Justine Recipients of the 2015-2016 Canadian Institutes of Health Research Scholarship Awards
MONTRÉAL, August 3, 2016 – The CHU Sainte-Justine mother-child hospital, affiliated with Université de Montréal, is pleased to announce the ten recipients of the 2015-2016 Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Scholarship Awards. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding candidates with the specific objectives of providing them with an opportunity to gain research experience and to provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers
A prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship was bestowed on Mathieu Nadeau-Vallée, a doctoral student under the supervision of Sylvain Chemtob, MD, PhD, for his project ''Inhibiting interleukin-1 receptor during pregnancy to prevent neonatal mortality and morbidity induced by placental and chorioamnionic inflammation''. This scholarship valued at $50,000 per year for three years, aims to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and health.
