Her research program focuses on the role played by patients and their families in the transformation of healthcare systems, at the political, organizational and clinical levels, with a view to identifying best practices. In this context, she is studying several models of patient integration at the institutional and primary care levels in Canada and other countries. She is also interested in how connected health is changing the relationship between healthcare professionals and patients, as well as the organization of the healthcare system. Finally, she is developing tools for measuring care and service partnerships.
Career Summary
Marie-Pascale Pomey is a full professor in the Department of Health Management, Evaluation and Policy at the Université de Montréal School of Public Health (ESPUM) and in the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine. She is a regular researcher at the CHUM Research Centre, scientific co-director of the Centre d'excellence sur le partenariat avec les patients et le public (CEPPP) and medical advisor to the Quebec government's Institut national d'excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS). Trained as a physician specializing in public health, she holds the CHUM Chair in the evaluation of advanced technologies and modalities, which focuses on the involvement of citizens and patients in the transformation of organizations and the healthcare system. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from Université Paris V-Descartes and Université de Montréal.
